This was a short essay that I written that allowed me to become a volunteer at the Little Rock St. Vincent Longevity Center.
Volunteers create the foundation of the community. Many organizations, such as The Salvation Army, exist only because of dedicated volunteers. When I first volunteered for Junior Civitan in December, it hit me that volunteering is a way I can relieve suffering in this world. I influence others to give back to the community. I can improve the daily lives of the patients at St. Vincent by providing a helping hand. Marianne Williamson once said, “As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
